Lipstick Plant
Care Level: I'm Easy
Pet Safe:Yes
InfoThe lipstick plant (Aeschynanthus spp.) is a tropical evergreen perennial that's often grown as a houseplant. It's named for its vibrant red tubular flowers that resemble lipstick twisting out of a tube. The flowers can also be magenta, yellow, pink, orange, or purple
Care InstructionsPlace the lipstick plant in bright indirect light with soil temperatures between 65-70 degrees in spring through fall. During winter, keep it cooler and drier. Water thoroughly, ensuring excess water is emptied from the saucer to prevent root rot or fungal issues. Create a high humidity environment by grouping with other plants, using a humidifier, or employing a pebble tray. While pruning isn't necessary, trim Aeschynanthus with sharp pruners or shears for a tidy appearance or to control vine growth. Best time for pruning is just after blooms finish, but anytime from spring to early summer works.
